Meet Lil and Pip! 🦢✨
We’re excited to announce that Lisa Rice is the winner of our Name Our Swans Giveaway!
We received an incredible 929 entries, and after reviewing all your creative ideas, Lil and Pip were chosen as the winning names in honor of Queen Elizabeth and King Philip.
Did you know? In the 1950s, Lakeland’s swan population had nearly disappeared until a local resident wrote to Queen Elizabeth II, who graciously sent a pair of royal swans from England’s River Thames. Their descendants still glide across Lake Morton today, making swans one of Lakeland’s most treasured symbols.
The stunning swan mural, created by local artist Gillian Fazio, celebrates this timeless piece of Lakeland history and now proudly features Lil and Pip at Lakeside Village.
